Rubus “Tummelberry”

The Tummelberry, originally known as the Clydeberry, is one of the most recent raspberry-blackberry hybrids, developed by the Scottish Crop Research Institute, as was the Tayberry, one of its parents. Like all these plants, it produces large fruits with a delicious flavour. Being a descendant of the Tayberry, it is similar in many ways, such as the bright red colour of its fruit, but the Tummelberry produces even larger fruit. The plants are quite vigorous and their stems can reach 3 metres in height, although they do have some thorns.

It is harvested in June and July.
