Tayberry (Rubus fruticosus x idaeus)

One of the most delicious berries! The Buckingham® Tayberry thornless is one of the most recent blackberry-raspberry hybrids, offering the highest quality fruit with a high yield, making it one of the best varieties on the market. This blackberry-raspberry produces very large, raspberry-red fruits that are very sweet with an exquisite flavour. It also has a very long harvest season, these fruits can be picked throughout the summer. Tayberry plants are extremely cold-resistant and they have a late flowering period, so spring frosts are not usually a problem for these plants.

Sometimes the Tayberry is often mistakenly confused with the “Tay Blackberry”, as both were developed by the Scottish Crop Research Institute, but unlike the Tayberry, “Tay blackberry” is not a hybrid, it is a new variety belonging to the European species Rubus fruticosus.
