Purple Japanese Honeysuckle – Lonicera japonica ‘Purpurea’.

This variety of Japanese honeysuckle is incredibly striking due to its stunning evergreen leaves, which turn purple in autumn and winter. During the summer, the leaves of these Japanese honeysuckle plants are green with purple veins, and the young shoots are also purple, creating a truly spectacular sight. It blooms profusely from July to September; however, it produces more discreet and less fragrant flowers than other varieties.

These are vigorous climbing plants, capable of reaching 4 meters in height. While they prefer to grow in bright, sheltered locations, they also tolerate partial shade. These purple Japanese honeysuckle plants are not at all demanding in terms of soil type.
