Physalis Peruviana
Physalis plants, also known as Andean berry, cape gooseberry, or goldenberry, are famous for their distinctive orange fruits, covered in a papery white membrane. These are incredibly hardy plants that, in areas with mild winters, can produce fruit practically year-round.
Unlike other varieties, ‘Peters Beste’ has a more compact growth habit, making it easier to cultivate and extremely productive, yielding up to 200 fruits per plant. It produces delicious and aromatic light orange fruits with a very sweet flavor and hints of coconut and vanilla. The main harvest season is during summer and autumn, depending on the local climate.
During the winter, the stems dry out completely and will sprout again once the cold weather returns.
