European lingonberry (Vaccinium vitis-idaea)

Lingonberry is the name given in Northern Europe to wild European cranberry plants. These evergreen plants are truly beautiful, forming small, very bushy shrubs about 20 cm high that are lovely to look at, unlike their cousin, the American cranberry, which is completely creeping. They are very hardy plants, extremely resistant to cold, late flowering and producing small red berries, famous for being an incredible remedy for urinary tract infections. They have a sour taste and are therefore usually consumed in juices or jams.

They are harvested at the end of summer.
