Boysenberry (Rubus ursinus var loganobaccus cv Boysenberry)

The boysenberry is currently the most complex hybrid between blackberry and raspberry, originating from a cross between European raspberry (Rubus idaeus), European blackberry (Rubus fruticosus), dwarf blackberry (Rubus aboriginum) and Loganberry. As a result, the plants are smaller in size but produce large, very tasty fruit. These fruits are dark maroon in colour, very juicy, with a very distinctive sweet and sour, fruity flavour and a very smooth texture.

Boysenberries are usually harvested during July and August.
