The difference between redcurrants and blueberries

The main difference between redcurrants and blueberries lies in the colour and flavour of the berries; whilst blueberries are purple and sweet, redcurrants have a more tart flavour and produce berries in various colours such as red, white, green and black, with the black variety having the most bitter taste. Both types of berry produce beautiful clusters of fruit.

As for the difference between redcurrant and blueberry plants, both are medium to tall shrubs, with blueberry plants tending to grow slightly larger. However, whilst there are blueberry varieties suitable for all types of climates, redcurrant plants must be grown in cold or temperate climates.

Where both plants do agree is in their berries; both redcurrants and blueberries are a rich source of antioxidants, minerals, vitamins and essential acids, which provide incredible health benefits.
