American Beauty Honeysuckle – Lonicera x heckrottii

The American Beauty honeysuckle, along with Gold Flame, are the two honeysuckle varieties with the most spectacular flower colors. It is a hybrid honeysuckle plant (Lonicera x heckrottii), with a compact, climbing, and vigorous habit. It can reach up to 4 meters in height and tolerates the cold of harsh winters and quite poor soils. However, it prefers a shady location, away from direct sunlight. It is semi-evergreen, and its leaves are truly beautiful, as they take on bluish-green hues depending on the time of year and climate.

And of course, its most distinctive feature is its incredible bloom, full of spectacular colors, thanks to its flowers in shades of mauve and pink with yellow and orange centers—a true feast for the eyes. Furthermore, as is typical of honeysuckle plants, its flowers are very fragrant, especially at night.

It is an ideal plant for decorating any support, such as pergolas, gazebos, fences or even for growing in pots thanks to its more compact shape.
