Dwarf Aronia

Aronia x prunifolia

Another great new addition to urban gardens is the dwarf chokeberry, perfect for pots thanks to its shorter height of around 100 cm. But don’t let its small, compact size fool you, as these dwarf aronia plants produce a bountiful harvest of this purple-black superfood, famous for its extremely high concentrations of anthocyanins or tannins, making them veritable antioxidant powerhouses. Best of all, it has a higher sugar content than its larger counterpart, giving these berries a surprisingly mild flavor, making them more enjoyable to eat fresh.

Like other aronia varieties, its autumnal colors are a true spectacle, thanks to its vibrant reddish hues mixed with touches of orange. Likewise, in spring, its unmistakable clusters of white flowers with pink stamens will be incredibly eye-catching in our garden, terrace, or balcony. Dwarf aronia is undoubtedly an ideal addition to our urban garden.

It is harvested at the end of August/September.
