Kiwiberry Self-Fertile Arctic Beauty

The Baby kiwi, kiwiberry, of the species Actinidia kolomikta is known worldwide as the “Beauty of the Arctic.” Specifically, the Dr. Szymanowski variety is self-fertile, so it doesn’t need to be crossbred with other varieties to produce kiwifruit. It’s a very hardy mini kiwi variety that stands out for its vigorous growth, climbing up to 3 meters, allowing you to decorate your garden or orchard in countless ways.

But undoubtedly, its most distinctive feature is its leaves. These plants are truly eye-catching thanks to their incredible tricolor leaves, combining creamy white, pink, and green on the same leaf. While these colors can be seen on the leaves in the first year, they don’t appear on all the leaves of the plant until the second year of cultivation, being most noticeable on the leaves with greater sun exposure.

It has beautiful white flowers with yellow stamens and pistils, lightly scented with hints of lemon, which begin to bloom in May.

The kiwiberries produced by Arctic Beauty plants are more elongated than the kiwifruit of other Actinidia arguta varieties, resembling a bell or teardrop. They are harvested in August and, once ripe, detach easily from the plant.
